Skelton Sherborne Shipping Index shows stagnant machine activity, but increased value

The SKELTON Sherborne Shipping Index for August 2009 has indicates that machine numbers have not moved, but value has slightly increased.

The Skelton Sherborne Index measures imports activity for heavy machinery in industries such and construction and mining.

According to the latest release by Skelton Sherborne, the total number of machines imported in August remained virtually static with 902 machines imported.

However, the report revealed the FOB value of imported equipment climbed from $105 million in July to $132 million in August, illustrating the average value per unit is increasing.
