P&O Trans Australia purchases MCS for $33 million

P&O Trans Australia (POTA) has reportedly paid $33 million to fully acquire Maritime Container Services (MCS).

MCS controls up to 30-40% of Sydney’s empty container traffic.

The company also operates two empty container storage and repair parks in Sydney, at Cooks River and Banksmeadow, with a total capacity of around 15,000 TEU.

With around 120 staff, the company runs a number of trucks as well as rail services to and from the port and customers’ premises.

MCS entered into a 20-year lease with Sydney Ports Corporation on 1 January 2008 for the Cooks River site.

P&O Trans is half-owned each by DPWorld and KFM.
