New harbour master appointed for Port Botany, Sydney Harbour

SOUTHAMPTON’S Captain Steven Young has been appointed as the new harbour master for Sydney.

Captain Young will be responsible for Port Botany and Sydney Harbour.

The former Southampton harbour master took up his position last week after an international search for ideal candidate to ensure Sydney’s shipping movements run as smoothly and safely as possible.

New South Wales ports minister Joe Tripodi said Captain Young is a master mariner and an experienced harbour master.

Sydney’s ports handle more than $50 billion of international and domestic trade annually.
