Investors urge SA government to decide on deep-sea port plan

THE SOUTH Australian Government is under pressure to make a decision concerning the feasibility of a deep-sea port in the Upper Spencer Gulf.

In March this year, a feasibility study on the port was handed to the Infrastructure Department.

Bob Duffin, the chairman of the Port Bonython Bulk Users Group, said foreign investors were becoming increasingly frustrated at the delay and were demanding certainty.

Duffin said the government must act now if the port is to be developed, particularly if South Australia is to retain its reputation as a mining-friendly state.
