THE Bega Valley Shire Council will be facing difficulties in raising money to fund a port development after the Federal Government backed out.

The Bega Valley Council had intentions to increase investment in the town with plans to build a port at Snug Cove in Eden which would cost $34 million.

ABC South East News revealed the Government’s Job Fund was instead allocated to projects promoting traditional trade roles.

"The big issues for Snug Cove are that we need to try to source some funding to extend the wharf," Mayor Tony Allen told ABC South East News.
