Eaton installs electrical power supply on board world’s largest cruise ship

EATON has installed its range of electrical power supply systems to help keep the 6,300 passengers of the world’s largest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas, comfortable, safe and entertained.

According to Eaton, the ship has more than 20 of its uninterruptible power system (UPS) units on board to provide steady flow of power to its massive navigation, computer, emergency lighting, and heating and cooling systems.

“The size and scope of technological applications on board this revolutionary ship pose remarkable challenges to the consistent flow of reliable, clean and safe power,” Eaton’s Power Quality Division president Ed Komoski says.

“Eaton’s industry-leading UPS units are designed to provide instantaneous back-up power in case of an outage. That’s important in every critical application, but especially at sea.”

Eaton claims its power management software for electrical system performance monitoring and optimisation has also been installed on the ship on top of its large-system marine UPS units to protect critical systems from disruptive power interruptions.
