Cargo ship, catamaran collide en route to Sydney Harbour

THE PASSENGERS of a catamaran that collided with a cargo ship was assisted into a port Sydney port last night.

The 45ft catamaran Masquerade was on its way to Sydney Harbour from Jervis Bay when the collision happened.

The catamaran scraped the side of The Pacific Java cargo ship, bringing down the mast of the Masquerade and crushing the cabin on the port side.

While no injuries have been reported, police are gathering statements from the crews of both vessels today.
